We currently have the following positions available:
Senior Research Engineer
An opening is available for an engineer to develop and manage research
projects relating to
new product development, biomaterials, and emerging technologies.
Computational analysis
methods will be used extensively together with mechanical testing. The
successful candidate
will be expected to develop detailed research plans and manage internal and
external
resources to achieve project objectives.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Advance the utilization of available technology and equipment for the
research of
materials and products to further R&D goals.
+ Evaluate research proposals relative to DePuy objectives and business
plan.
+ Stay current with advances in orthopaedic surgery, biomechanics, and
biomaterials.
+ Prepare reports and presentations for both internal and external
publication.
+ Interface with surgeons, researchers, outside vendors, and prototype
facilities.
+ Assist in the management of co-op students, lab technicians, and test
engineers.
+ Assist marketing, sales, quality, regulatory and clinical, and
manufacturing groups as
needed.
+ Write standard operating procedures and maintain a clean and safe working
environment.
+ Develop concept ideas and coordinate fabrication of test fixtures, test
samples and
sometimes test machines.
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate must have a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering,
or a related field, and 5 years experience in research or product
development with a
demonstrated proficiency in the use of finite element analysis methods.
Excellent research,
interpersonal, and time management skills are required. Familiarity with
experimental
methods, mechanical test equipment, and data analysis techniques is desired.
