Tenure Track Position in Strength and Conditioning

California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) invites applications from
individuals interested in joining our dynamic and growing faculty. With a
current student population in excess of 28,000, CSUS, the capital University
is one of the larger campuses in the 23 campus California State University
system, the largest system of higher education in the nation. The
University is organized around seven colleges. There are approximately
1,500 faculty who provide programs of instruction leading towards bachelor's
degrees in 60 disciplines and master's degrees in 40 disciplines and one
joint doctoral program.
Sacramento is a high growth metropolitan area with a population of
approximately 1.7 million. As California's capital, Sacramento is an
advantageous setting for premier academic programs. As a major metropolitan

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Doctorate in Kinesiology or closely related field. ABD candidates will be
considered, but degree must be completed within two years of appointment.
Special Knowledge and Abilities:
The applicant is required to have a strong academic background necessary to
teach a variety of courses related to strength and conditioning. Preference
will be given to applicants that are Certified Strength and Conditioning
Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association
(NSCA). Preference will be given to applicants that have the USA
Weightlifting (USAW) Level I (Club Coach Course) certification. The
applicant should have the ability to conduct research/scholarly activity,
and the ability to work with diverse student populations.
Experience:
Preference will be given to applicants with successful university teaching
experience related to the position assignment and a record of
research/scholarly activity.
Assignment:
The applicant will be expected to teach beginning weight training,
intermediate weight training, advanced weight training, analysis of weight
training, scientific basis of physical conditioning, beginning Olympic
lifting, and weight training for life-long fitness. The applicant will be
expected to teach a graduate course in strength and conditioning. The
ability to serve as chair of theses committees is desirable.
The applicant may be asked to teach in other areas based on departmental
needs which might include required and elective courses in the major or in
general education. The applicant will be expected to be involved with the
CSUS Weight Lifting Team. The faculty member will serve on departmental
committees, advise students, pursue scholarly/creative activities in area of
expertise, and engage in community service.
Appointment:
The position is tenure-track and will be at the Assistant Professor level.
Salary range: $43,632-$55,008 (based on academic degree, teaching and
professional experience).

offers three degree programs: B.S. in Health Science, B.S. in Kinesiology,
and a M.S. in Kinesiology.
Options in the undergraduate program include Physical Education, Exercise

Exercise Science and Sports Performance. The KHS Department is one of seven
units in the College of Health and Human Services (Nursing, Social Work,
