Mechanical properties of soft tissue

Hello,

I try to gain some information for a seminar thesis dealing with biomechanical propeties oft soft tissues.
I have two questions:

1. What can a mechanical description of soft tissue be used for ? What are the medical
applications and possible future developments ?

2.Are there methods for obtaining mechanical parameters of soft tissue by computer tomography ?

I would be glad if anyone could answer me.
