Subject: Postdoctoral Fellowship at Yale Biomechanics Laboratory

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellowship at the
Biomechanics Research Laboratory, Department of Orthopaedics and
Rehabilitation, Yale University School of Medicine.

The successful candidate will:

- have recently completed a Ph.D. in Biomedical or Mechanical
Engineering with special interest in clinical biomechanics of the human
spine
- have thorough knowledge of solid mechanics, kinematics theory,
computer programming and instrumentation
- have excellent interpersonal communication skills and work habits
- be self-starting, independent and motivated to learn
- have a special interest/background in experimental testing of in
vitro biomechanical models
- demonstrate leadership skills and eagerness to work within a team
consisting of engineers, Orthopaedic surgeons and medical students
- eagerness to pursue an exciting career path in Orthopaedic
Bioengineering research

Current and future projects within our lab include:

- Cervical spine injuries during rear, frontal and side impacts
- In vitro biomechanical testing of intervertebral disc prostheses
- Biomechanical investigation of spinal compression injuries treated
with vertebroplasty
- Subscapularis repair in shoulder arthroplasty
- Subfailure injury of ligaments

The position is presently limited to one year. It may be extended
depending upon the candidate's performance during the first year, and
availability of funding. The salary will be commensurate with
