re : Erector spinae role during trunk twisting
dear experts.
I am doing experiment about trunk twisting (axial rotation) during upright
standing posture in static stage,
and observe the activities of Erector Spinae in L1(upper side) and L5 (lower
side) and in Abdominal muscles.
Most of previous studies, either in twisting while sitting or standing,
noted that the Ipsilateral ES are more active than the contralateral.
While there are also opinion that said ES has no contribution in trunk
twisting.
However, most subjects in my experiment gave a different results.
We observed total power of the EMG of ES muscles, and the total power
showed that Contralateral ES were active, while Ipsilateral gave almost no
activity increasing.
(Opposite result with most past studies).
There is no such result in all reference we had now.
According this matter, we would like to have your consideration on the
possibilities of such resuls.
Please kindly advise and inform us if any past study gave such kind of
result.
I am looking forward to having any opinion and suggestion either from
biomechanical, anatomical, or ergonomical perspectives.
