Dear Colleagues,
One of our readers kindly sent me a copy of the 1988 Progress Report of the
Rehabilitation Research and Development Center at the Veterans Administration
Medical Center in Palo Alto, CA/USA. It is a well-written survey of work com-
pleted or in progress during the years 1986 and 1987, and well worth acquiring.
The main categories in this 200 pp. booklet are:
The Center (Objectives, Organization, Funding, Personnel, Collaborations)
Reports (Orthopaedic Biomechanics, Neuromuscular Systems, Human-Machine
Integration, Student Projects)
Facilities (RR&D Center, Stanford University)
Bibliography (Dissertations, Publications, Scientific Presentations, Articles
and Presentations)
Additional copies are available on request from: Rehabilitation Research and
Development Center, VA Medical Center/153, 3801 Miranda Avenue, PALO ALTO, CA
94304, U.S.A., Tel. +1(415)858-3991, FTS 463-5530.
Herman J. Woltring.
P.S.: While talking about Biomechanics and Neuromuscular Systems: some members
of the ISB (International Society of Biomechanics) may have received a letter
from the International Society of Electrophysiological Kinesiology (ISEK) to
consider this latter society, with an invitation to attend its 1990 congress.
I am curious how this will evolve, with the "First World Congress on Biomecha-
nics" being held in California at about the same time, and the next ISB Congress
to take place in Perth/Australia in 1991...
