    ANNOUNCEMENT OF FACULTY POSITION
    Brigham Young University
    Department of Physical Education

    A tenure-track faculty position in Exercise Science with an emphasis in
    Biomechanics is available in the Department of Physical Education at
    Brigham Young University beginning fall semester 2003. The Department
    of Physical Education has undergraduate majors in Exercise Science,
    Athletic Training, Fitness and Wellness, and Pedagogy. Masters and
    Doctoral degrees are offered in Exercise Science with emphases in
    Exercise Physiology, Health Promotion, Physical Medicine and
    Rehabilitation, and Pedagogy.

    A newly renovated 10,000 sq. ft. Human Performance Research Center
    (HPRC) is available to conduct applied and basic individual and
    collaborative research. The HPRC includes exercise physiology, exercise
    biochemistry, body composition, biomechanics, therapeutic modalities,
    and public health laboratories. The 1800 square foot biomechanics lab
    contains a six-camera Motion Analysis video system, two AMTI force
    plates, Noraxon EMG system, and a Biodex System 3 isokinetic
    dynamometer. Current research in the Biomechanics Lab includes injury
    rehabilitation, movement dysfunction, exercise adaptation, and sport
    biomechanics.


    Responsibilities

    C Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biomechanics.
    C Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the
    department.
    C Serve, when appointed, on department, college and/or
    university committees.
    C Conduct and publish research in area(s) of specialization and
    seek external funding.


    Qualifications


    C Earned doctorate with emphasis in biomechanics.
    C Record of published research and external funding.
    C Successful record of teaching.
    C Demonstrated abilities in computer programming (i.e., Visual
    Basic, C++, etc...), EMG (fine-wire and/or surface electrode), and
    tissue mechanics are sought.

    C History of mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
    C Involvement in national and regional professional
    organizations (e.g., American College of Sports Medicine; American,
    European, Canadian, or International Society of Biomechanics)

    Salary and Rank

    C Commensurate with qualifications and experience
