Announcement of Faculty Position
Department of Kinesiology
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
The Department of Kinesiology at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign is seeking qualified applicants to fill a full time
tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in
Biomechanics/Motor Control. Candidates will be expected to engage
in research, seek extramural funding, teach at the undergraduate and
graduate levels, advise and direct student research. The successful
candidate will be expected to complement current faculty research and
contribute to the department’s interdisciplinary research.
The Department has identified life span physical activity as a central
theme. Well-equipped laboratories exist both in the Department of
Kinesiology and across campus to support interdisciplinary research
related to biomechanics/motor control. Further information about

Desired qualification include a doctorate and an academic background in
Kinesiology or related disciplines, such as Biomechanics, Engineering,
Human Factors, Neuroscience, or Psychology is required. The ability
to teach courses in Kinesiology focusing on aspects of biomechanics /
motor control is desirable. To assure full consideration, letter of
application, vitae and three letters of recommendation should be
submitted by December 1, 2002. The appointment will be effective
August 21, 2003. Interviews may be conducted before the closing
date, but all applications will receive full consideration and the final
decision will not be made until after that date.
