    MIDWEST GRADUATE STUDENT BIOMECHANICS SYMPOSIUM

    Department of Kinesiology
    The University of Toledo
    April 4-5, 2003

The Department of Kinesiology and the College of Health and Human
Services at The University of Toledo are proud to announce that they
will host the 2003 Midwest Graduate Student Biomechanics Symposium
    (MWGSBS), April 4-5, 2003.

The MWGSBS functions to promote and enhance student research in
Biomechanics by facilitating the mutual exchange of ideas in a collegial
environment. As The University of Toledo is the site for the upcoming
2003 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Biomechanics, the MWGSBS
will serve as an opportunity for many in the Mid-West region to visit
Toledo and the university and get a preliminary look at our facilities
    and community.

IMPORTANT NOTE: A MWGSBS website is currently being developed so that
more information will be available by the end of January 2003 in order
to assist with travel and accommodations.

    LOCATION

The MWGSBS will be held within the Department of Kinesiology in the
Health Education Center on the campus of The University of Toledo. The
facilities in which presentations will be made are fully equipped for
    slide, overhead and computer-based presentations.

    REGISTRATION

There is no registration fee for the MWGSBS. The symposium organizers
do ask that all those that plan to attend to complete the registration
form, that can be downloaded from the MWGSBS website by the end of
January 2003, so that we may make appropriate accommodations (i.e., room
size, coffee, snacks, etc.). The registration form must be completed
and sent, via regular mail or fax, to:

    Danny M. Pincivero, Ph.D.
    Department of Kinesiology
    The University of Toledo
    Toledo, OH 43606
    Fax: (419) 530-4759
    Phone: (419) 530-5291

    ABSTRACTS

The abstract deadline will be March 1st, 2003. The abstracts should be
prepared using MS Word and the following format: 300 word maximum
(excluding title and authors), single-spaced, 12 point font, and Times
New Roman lettering. The title should be in bolded upper-case
lettering, followed by a hard-return, and then the authors and
affiliations. A single space should separate the authors and the main
text of the abstract. The main text should be typed as a single
paragraph, flush left with no right side justification. A sample
abstract will be posted on the conference website.

Abstracts must be submitted electronically, as an attachment, to
danny.pincivero@utoledo.edu. Students submitting abstracts must type
into the e-mail text their preference for a podium or poster
presentation. It is not guaranteed that the indicated preference will
    be granted.

Students should note that the March 1st deadline is “soft”, so that
those intending on submitting an abstract, but may not complete it in
time, may do so after the deadline as long as they indicate this to
Danny M. Pincivero (danny.pincivero@utoledo.edu) prior to March 1st.

SPECIAL FEATURE: In keeping with the spirit of the MWGSBS, the
organizers are planning a podium session dedicated to providing students
with an opportunity to present research proposals. As many students may
be in the planning stages for a Biomechanics research project (i.e.,
Senior undergraduate project, Masters’ Thesis, or Doctoral
Dissertation), this proves to be a valuable opportunity to receive
feedback and constructive suggestions prior to formally commencing their
work back at their institution. The format for these presentations will
be podium, and those intending on this should indicate so at the time of
    abstract submission.
