NUFFIELD DEPARTMENT OF ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY
BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH ENGINEER
ACADEMIC-RELATED RESEARCH STAFF GRADE 1A:
Salary: £18,265 - 27,339 pa
Applications are invited for a Biomedical Research Engineer commencing
in March 2003 for a period of 2 years. The successful applicant will
be responsible to Professor David Murray and will work under the direct
supervision of Senior Research Fellow (Engineering) in the Orthopaedic
Engineering Collaboration, Nuffield Department of Orthopaedic Surgery,
The Botnar Research Centre, Oxford University Institute of
Musculoskeletal Sciences at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.
The person appointed will be required to undertake the following duties:
I. Further develop advanced 3D image based measurement methods for
joint replacements.
II. Develop 2D dynamic image based methods and modelling for the
human knee joint.
III. Model a variety of implants using Finite Element Analysis.
The post holder will be required to hold a doctorate in Engineering or
allied numerical discipline and to have significant research
proficiency. Strong computational and programming skills are required.
Experience in the fields of medical image processing, human joint
modelling and finite element analysis would be beneficial, but not
essential.
The post may involve making measurements on patients/human subjects in
conjunction with the appropriate clinical staff.
