    Research Engineer

The AO Research Institute in Davos, Switzerland, is part of the non-profit
AO Foundation (www.aofoundation.org), and is devoted to basic and applied
research in the treatment of the musculoskeletal trauma and disease. The
Tissue Biomechanics Group, within the Institute, is currently searching for
an energetic and enthusiastic individual to work in an exciting research
    environment.

The current research focus of this group is mechanobiology of bone healing
and intervertebral disc degeneration and its treatment. The methodologies
include in vivo and in vitro experimentation in conjunction with numerical
modeling. The group is composed of a senior scientist, a post-doctoral
fellow, PhD candidates, medical and veterinary doctors and technical
    students.

The engineer will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and
support of experimental devices. He/she will also conduct portions of
experiments requiring technical expertise. Finally, he/she will manage the
laboratory. The engineer will be asked to work in a team environment and
the degree of project leadership and student supervision will be
commensurate with the experience of the successful applicant.

Applicants should have strong practical skills and a degree in engineering
or similar qualifications. The post would suit someone with a broad set of
skills which would ideally include machine design, workshop skills, basic
electronics, familiarity with computer hardware and software,
    instrumentation and organizational skills.
