DESCRIPTION
The Postdoctoral Fellow will work with Dr. Gloria Chi-Fishman in the
implementation of a project aimed at better understanding the structure and
function of the human tongue in health, aging, and disease. This project
uses cutting-edge DTI/MRI and ultrasound technologies to study lingual
architecture as well as task-induced changes in tongue volumetrics,
hemodynamics, kinetics, and kinematics. The ultimate objective is to
develop a physiologically based, multi-component, 3D model of the tongue
with powerful tools for evaluating theories about tongue architecture and
function and devising innovative treatment methodologies and strategies.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for data collection and
analysis and is expected to contribute to research design. In addition,
the individual will assume considerable responsibility in programming and
soft tissue modeling.
A doctoral degree in engineering, MRI physics, computer science, or
comparable academic background is required. Knowledge and experience in
imaging and image processing and analysis techniques, as well as skills in
programming are essential.
Added benefits will be prorated at 20% of base stipend.
