DESCRIPTION:
Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) Department of
Orthopedics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service is accepting
applications for a Program Coordinator in the Gait and Motion Analysis
Laboratory.
SETTING:
The WRAMC Gait and Motion Lab is funded by the Department of Orthopedics
Amputee Center. It employs state of the art technology and is equipped with
an 8 Eagle Camera Motion Analysis Real-Time System, Noraxon surface EMG and
one AMTI force platform. Initial plans are to conduct research studies with
an eye towards clinical care of amputees and eventually general clinical
applications.
The lab is located in the PM&R/Prosthetic and Orthotic section of the 250
bed main hospital building in Washington, DC. WRAMC is situated on the
outskirts of Rock Creek Park, minutes from Bethesda and downtown DC. The
medical center offers a full range of specialties to active duty and retired
military personnel and their dependents.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Guide research projects, e.g. develop and provide feedback regarding
protocol design, grant applications, preparation of reports, and
presentation of results
* Assist in the collection and analysis of data for research and
clinical subjects.
* Ensure routine equipment maintenance and management of computer
resources in the motion lab.
* Assume organizational responsibilities
* Assist with staff education through lectures/inservices
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum requirement PhD degree in biomedical engineering or other movement
science related field. Minimum of 5 years experience in a clinical/research
gait laboratory required. Qualified candidates should be proficient at
writing proposals and protocols resulting in publications in peer-reviewed
journals. Computer programming with experience in the development of
biomechanical movement analysis models desirable.
