Title: PhD studentships 2003/4
Location: School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, University of Leeds, UK
Closing date: 12th of May 2003
Three PhD Studentships are available to British and EU citizens for
individuals who are interested in pursuing research study to PhD level
in Sport and Exercise Science or a related discipline. The bursaries
include fees and a maintenance element. A contribution to undergraduate
laboratory class demonstration is expected. Applicants should have a
Masters degree or First or good Upper Second class Undergraduate degree
in Sports Science or a related area of study. Applications are
particularly welcome from those wishing to study one of the following
areas:
Biomechanics - (i) Biomechanical and postural responses and adaptations
to novel locomotor tasks or (ii)The relationship between foot and lower
limb coupling and overuse injury
Motor development/learning - Upper limb functions and children with
movement difficulties
Sport/Exercise physiology - (i) Control of bioenergetics and ventilation
in exercise or (ii) Interactions between exercise and cardiovascular
health in women
Sport/Exercise psychology - (i) Social psychological factors related to
group functioning in sport and/or exercise or (ii) Positive or negative
effects of exercise on psychological health
Those interested should send a full CV with the names of two referees
and a statement of 250 words outlining their research interests to Dr
Andrea Utley at the address below. E-mail submissions are encouraged.
Applications must arrive by the 12th of May 2003.
