    An exciting opportunity is available for a dynamic equine specialist to join the Faculty of Rural Management's Equine Science and Management team to assist in developing teaching and research in this area. The Faculty of Rural Management is one of the University of Sydney's newest Faculties and is located at the University's regional campus in Orange, NSW. The Faculty is focused on further developing its national and international reputation in equine science and management studies through an enhancement of its research and teaching profile and is seeking to appoint a Lecturer to contribute to these developments.


    Applicants with qualifications, teaching, research and professional experience in one or a combination of the following areas are encouraged to apply:


    Equine sports science, exercise physiology, kinematics & / or biomechanics;

    Equine sports performance management (training & conditioning of equine athletes)

    - preferably relating to the thoroughbred racing industry;

    Equine reproduction, genetics and stud management;

    Handling & training of equine young-stock;

    Equine nutrition;

    Management of commercial equine enterprises.


    The successful applicant will possess PhD degree in a relevant area; Record of achievements in research in a relevant area demonstrated by previous competitive research funding, publications in peer reviewed journals and successful post graduate supervision; Experience of developing & teaching courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in relevant areas of core expertise; Demonstrated capacity for teamwork and collaborative work in teaching and research; Experience of project and / or programme leadership; Commitment to and capacity to provide support for flexible learning, including distance education; Industry experience in areas within the core expertise

    Desirable Completion or substantial progress towards completion of a teaching qualification in higher education; Demonstrated research experience in & collaborative links with the equine industry; Experience in academic programme management; development of learning programmes and materials for distance education; student learning support, and on line teaching; Experience in multidisciplinary teams.

    In addition to addressing the position selection criteria, applicants are invited to outline in 2-3 pages their research plans for the next 3-5 years, and the teaching strategies they would employ in the position.


    The positions are full-time continuing, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and/or confirmation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.

    Remuneration Package: $65,771 - $78,056 p.a. (which includes a base salary Lecturer Level B $55,578 - $65,999 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer's contribution to superannuation)
