Dear Biomch-L Colleagues
I apologise for sending this note to the whole list but I would like to make
contact with those subscribers who are also members of the International
Society of Biomechanics. I am following up on my recent note in the ISB
newsletter regarding the upcoming elections for council, and I repeat the
note here:
ISB COUNCIL ELECTIONS
by Kit Vaughan, Past President
It is that time in the cycle when we elect the members of the ISB Council.
As you know, the Council works on your behalf to see that the ISB functions
as a vibrant and healthy organisation. I would like to invite you to
consider nominations for Council for the 2003-2005 cycle. You can nominate
one of your colleagues or you can also nominate yourself. If you do nominate
a colleague, please ensure that she or he is willing to stand.
While serving on Council can be an important opportunity to advance your
career, please be aware that it also involves a lot of hard work for no
financial benefit! In fact, Council members (or their employers) pay their
own way to Council meetings which are held once a year. Having said that,
this is also a marvellous opportunity to put something back into your
profession and the knowledge gained can be invaluable. I have now had 12
years on Council and I can say without hesitation that it has been one of
the most positive experiences of my professional life.
So, if you would like to nominate someone, including yourself, please
contact me at e-mail address below where I am on sabbatical until the end of
the year. There is some urgency here so please make contact with me in the
next two weeks!
