It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Stuart McGill will hold a one-day
workshop entitled "Improving Prevention Strategies and Rehabilitation
Approaches for Low Back Disorders". The event will be held on July 26,
2003 in San Diego, California and is part of the American Kinesiotherapy
Association National Convention.
Dr. McGill is a Professor of Spine Biomechanics in the Departments of
Kinesiology and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Waterloo, and
Associate Chair of Graduate Studies. Dr. McGill's research is directed
toward understanding low back function, how it becomes injured
and development of biomechanically-based prevention strategies and
rehabilitation programs.
He will provide guidance in the application of this knowledge to the
clinic, workplace and rehabilitation centers to reduce the risk of injury
to the uninjured and optimize the healing of the patient/client. It will
also be very helpful to those that prepare WCB reports, insurance reports,
and others who need to improve their understanding of low back injury,
causation and outcomes.
This workshop is appropriate for a broad range of professionals working in
the area of health including: Physicians, Exercise Therapists,
Chiropractors, Ergonomists , Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists,
Athletic Trainers, Personal Trainers, Insurance Adjusters, Professors,
Students, and others working in allied health.
If interested, please respond to this posting with your name and mailing
address and a brochure will be sent ASAP. I may also forward a .pdf
version of the workshop brochure.
Hope to see you in sunny San Diego!
