The McPhail Equine Performance Center is a state-of-the-art facility
for equine gait analysis located at the College of Veterinary Medicine.
The mission is to perform basic and clinical research related to
investigations of sport performance and gait pathology in athletic horses.
Equipment includes a 6-camera Motion Analysis RealTime system;
AMTI force plate; Noraxon EMG; accelerometers; and transducers
used in custom applications.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering
or a related field. Previous experience in a gait laboratory is required,
but experience with horses is not necessary. The ideal applicant will be
highly motivated and able to work independently, but also a good team
player with strong interpersonal skills. Candidates should have strong
written and oral communication skills.

The position requires a thorough knowledge of kinematic and kinetic
analysis of gait, including inverse dynamic analysis, computer
programming skills, and familiarity with gait analysis
instrumentation. The duties include analysis of 3-D kinematic
and kinetic data, programming (MATLAB is required), and
development of custom applications in the equine field. The
successful applicant will participate in research design, data
collection, data analysis, preparation of manuscripts, and
supervision of undergraduate and graduate students as part of an
inter-disciplinary team of veterinarians and biomechanists. There
is an opportunity to conduct independent research and to attend
professional meetings.

The position is available immediately and is initially offered for one year.
It may be extended depending upon the candidate's performance and
availability of funding. Salary commensurate with qualifications and
