Northwestern University: Neural Engineering Faculty Position
Northwestern University is seeking a faculty member for a joint tenure-track
position in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Physical Medicine
and Rehabilitation, in the area of Neural Engineering.

Possible specialties include, but are not limited to, brain-machine
interfaces, robotics-assisted rehabilitation, novel approaches towards
electrical stimulation or neural recording in human subjects, and areas of
computational neuroscience relevant to human neuromotor functions, broadly
    defined.
The BME department supervises approximately 80 graduate students, and
graduates approximately 100 undergraduates per year from its ABET-accredited
    undergraduate program.
The faculty member will have extensive contact with the research and
clinical personnel at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, a leading
research hospital and a longtime partner of Biomedical Engineering and
Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern. The research laboratories for the
new appointee will be housed within the Sensory Motor performance Program, a
multidisciplinary research group working in themes related to human motor
function in normal and neurologically impaired human subjects.
Rank is dependent upon qualifications. The candidate must have a Ph.D. or
equivalent degree and a solid background in biomedical engineering,
mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a related area.

Applicants should also have the ability to establish an independently funded
research program and have a strong commitment to teaching in the
undergraduate and graduate programs in the Departments of Biomedical
Engineering, and in the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern
University.  The nominal starting date for the position is September 1,
    2004.
Application materials consisting of a resume, a statement of research and
teaching interests, and the names, addresses, email addresses and telephone
numbers of at least three references should be sent to:
