  • Hand Mounted Accelerometers

    Hi Folks,

I'm interested in assessing an occupational task involving breaking a object over an edge of metal. Preliminary testing with a borrowed 5g accelerometer (3D) by Silicon Designs had it topping out at 5g at the peak for the acceleration of the hand. There was lots of interesting stuff going on in the 0-1.5g range too. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with acceleration analysis of a similar sort of task and perhaps had advice about the construction of an appropriate 3D accelerometer, or a reasonable purchase? I'm presently working with a 1D accelerometer we found in the lab to find out what a max range would be.

    Thanks,
    Angela
