RESEARCH COORDINATOR / PHYSICAL THERAPIST

We are currently a highly motivated individual for a dual position of
Research Coordinator and Physical Therapist at Joyner Sportsmedicine
Center in Lexington, KY. The position entails 20 hrs per week as a
physical therapist in a high paced orthopedic and sportsmedicine
practice, and 20 hrs per week engaged in orthopedic and sportsmedicine
research.
The clinical responsibilities of this position include the evaluation
and treatment of an orthopedic and sportsmedicine patient population.
Treatment is provided in a team approach with Physical Therapy
Assistants, Athletic Trainers and Rehabilitation Aides. Adaptability
is important due to changing patient volumes and potential for new
patient walk-ins. Three years clinical experience is preferred, with
previous experience in sportsmedicine and manual therapy a plus.
The research responsibilities include coordination of ongoing and
future research projects at Joyner Sportsmedicine Center. This
includes collaborations with Kentucky Sportsmedicine Center and the
University of Kentucky Biodynamics Laboratory. The focus of the
research is neuromuscular and orthopedic factors associated with lower
extremity injuries. One of the specific areas of interest is the
factors associated with the gender bias in ACL injuries. Specific
tasks include data collection and analysis, abstract submissions,
scientific presentations, and assistance with manuscript and grant
writing. The research coordinator is also involved with the research
component of a sports medicine medical fellowship at Kentucky
Sportsmedicine Center. This entails providing seminars on topics
related to statistics, organizing journal clubs, and providing
assistance with manuscript writing. Successful applicants must have a
minimum of a Masters Degree with thesis in a related field, and have
experience in manuscript writing and reviewing. Additional research
beyond the Masters thesis is preferred.
