Shriners Hospitals for Children - Spokane
OPEN POSITION: The Shriners Hospitals for Children, Spokane, WA is seeking a
full-time Physical Therapist to work in a state of the art Motion Analysis
Lab. Shriners Hospitals for Children is a pediatric specialty hospital
offering high-quality orthopedic medical care to children and adolescents at
no cost to the patient or their family.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This core member of the Motion Analysis Lab team will
provide clinical support by performing physical examinations, data
collection, integration & interpretation of kinematic, kinetic,
electomyographic and clinical data into a comprehensive report for treatment
decision making. The Motion Analysis Laboratory currently averages four
motion analyses per week. Duties will also include participation in gait
and biomechanics research and providing education to the community and
medical staff.
QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum requirements are an undergraduate degree in
Physical Therapy with a current or potential Washington State license.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in pediatric
instrumented gait analysis as well as familiarity with Vicon motion capture
systems, an M.S. in related field, and certification in fine-wire EMG
analysis. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in biomechanics of
human movement, an aptitude for research, and a high comfort level with
technology. Candidates should be computer literate, detail oriented, and
have demonstrated written and presentation skills.
FACILITIES: The existing Motion Analysis Lab was built in 1994 and is
currently staffed by a biomechanical engineer, a physical therapist (open
position), and a computer technician. Equipment includes a 8-camera Vicon
612 system, 2 AMTI force plates, Motion Lab Systems surface & fine wire
electromyography instrumentation, Tekscan foot pressure measuring system, an
S-VHS video system, and several networked lab computers.
