  • type I & II fibers ED, FDS

    Dear BIOMCH-L browsers,

I have a question regarding the human extensor digitorum and flexor
digitorum superficialis muscle. Are there differences known between these
two muscles with respect to the % of type I & type II fibers?
I am looking at the timing of these contractions by means of sEMG in a
continuous typing task, and systematically observe that the duration of FDS
activation decreases with increasing tempo (2.25, 3 & 4.5 Hz). The duration
of ED activity however, only slowly decreases with increasing rate of
finger tapping. So, differences in the distribution of the fibers might
    give more insight.

    Kind regards,
    Gijs Bloemsaat
