    PhD Biomedical Engineering Research Position
    Shriners Hospitals for Children
    Philadelphia, PA


    Shriners Hospitals for Children, Philadelphia, PA, is a leading pediatric
    hospital specializing in the treatment of children with neuromuscular
    disorders including spinal cord injury and cerebral palsy. We are seeking
    qualified applicants for a unique research position involving the study of
    functional electrical stimulation (FES) and other novel interventions to
    improve the abilities of children with various neuromuscular disorders.


    A Ph.D. level research position is now available at Shriners Hospitals for
    Children, Philadelphia, PA. A doctoral degree in biomedical engineering or
    other traditional engineering discipline is required. Applicants should
    demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills and a strong
    desire to perform clinically applied research. A track record of securing
    extramural funding is desirable. A background in biomechanics, biosensors
    and/or orthopedic prosthetics and orthotics is also desirable. The position
    involves leading investigations in the areas of functional electrical
    stimulation applied to children with spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy and
    other neuromuscular conditions as well as developing new areas of inquiry
    concerning the utility and outcomes of novel interventions or techniques for
    children with neuromuscular disabilities. Opportunities are available for
    appointment and/or faculty positions at local universities. Applicants
