    EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGIST
    UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO
    COLORADO SPRINGS

    Department of Biology

    Position: The Biology department and its Exercise Science Group at the
    University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS) invite qualified
    candidates to apply for an Assistant Professor, Tenure Track position in
    Exercise Physiology.

    Program: The UCCS Exercise Science group supports service, research and
    teaching in the areas of Exercise Physiology, Sport Nutrition and
    Biomechanics. Collaborative efforts bring together groups within the
    Biology department, the Engineering and Business schools, as well as the
    Beth-El School of Nursing. Current faculty and graduate students are
    also active in supporting elite sport programs in connection with the
    United States Olympic Committee and its associated sport partners
    (located 5 miles from the University), collegiate and professional sport
    organizations, and local medical organizations. The Biology department
    offers undergraduate and graduate degrees (Masters in Basic Science)
    with an emphasis in exercise science. Additional departmental

    Responsibilities: Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in
    exercise science and human physiology; thesis supervision; developing
    research supported by grants and contracts; and participating in
    departmental activities. The academic appointment would begin in August
    2004.

    Qualifications: Earned PhD in exercise science or related field with
    post-doctoral training and research interests in exercise science,
    physical activity and health, and muscle physiology. The candidate must
    also have multi-year experience conducting viable applied and/or basic
    research with elite or emerging-elite athlete populations. Desirable
    qualities include effective university teaching, scholarly productivity,
    and the ability to work with a diverse department and student body.
