Graduate Study in Movement Science at UT Austin:
The graduate program in Movement Science (formerly Motor Behavior) in the
Department of Kinesiology at the University of Texas at Austin is actively
seeking highly motivated M.S. and Ph.D. graduate students to join our
program. Students can pursue either Master's or Doctoral degrees in
biomechanics, motor control, or developmental science.
Funding is available for qualified individuals. Applications for Fall 2004
admissions and financial aid are now being accepted. Applications should
be received no later than January 15, 2004 for students to receive full
consideration for ALL financial aid options
THE PROGRAM:
The Movement Science Program in the Department of Kinesiology at The
University of Texas offers comprehensive advanced training in the
biomechanics of human motion leading to Ph.D, M.A., or M.Ed.
degrees. Students can take introductory and advanced level courses in such
areas as Research Methodologies, Biomechanics in Clinical Settings,
Biomechanics of Sport, Neuromuscular Bases of Motor Control, Principles of
Neuroscience, Children's Exercise and Activity, Motor Development -
Assessment, Advanced Exercise Physiology, Physical Dimensions of Aging, and
more. In addition to the courses offered by the Department of Kinesiology,
students take classes in other areas, such as Biomedical Engineering,
Neuroscience, or Psychology. Additional advanced courses, including
research seminars, are also offered.

ADMISSION:
Applications for admission and financial aid should be received by the
Graduate School Admissions Office no later than January 15, 2004 if
students wish receive full consideration for all financial aid
options. However, applications received up until August 1, 2004 may still
be considered for admission (only). For admission of a student into the
Movement Science Graduate Program, the main considerations are: (a) the
course background of the student (science courses, including Anatomy,
Physiology, Biomechanics, Motor Control and Learning, etc.); (b) the
student's GRE scores (Verbal scores should preferably be 500 or above,
Quantitative and Analytical scores should preferably be in the 600's or
above); and (c) the student's record of interest and academic performance
in an area of study related to Movement Science. Outstanding students from
the clinical sciences (e.g. PT, OT, etc.), as well as the biological and
engineering sciences, are encouraged to apply.
