Position Title: Assistant Professor in Biomechanics, Tenure Track
Our community of scholars in the Kinesiology Division invite applications
from qualified individuals specializing in biomechanics to join us to
collaborate in our study of the art and science of human movement. We will
look to this scholar to provide leadership in biomechanics through
scholarship in teaching, research, and service.
Primary Functions:
1. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biomechanics,
and functional anatomy;
2. Conduct a focused line of research in biomechanics that
may complement current faculty expertise in economy of movement, lifespan
motor behavior, and pedagogy;
3. Disseminate research findings in peer-reviewed, scholarly
journals and at professional meetings;
4. Attract external funding for biomechanics-related research;
5. Advise undergraduate Kinesiology Division majors and
Masters students in Developmental Kinesiology;
6. Participate in activities of the Biomechanics/Motor
Behavior Laboratory;
7. Supervise exercise specialist and human movement science
field experience students;
8. Perform service activities in the Division, School,
University, and profession.
Qualifications:
Earned doctorate degree in Biomechanics (ABDs may be considered);
clear evidence of research potential as indicated by publications and
external grant funding; demonstrated commitment to quality instruction with
evidence of effective teaching at the university level. Expertise in
additional areas of kinesiology (e.g., exercise physiology, research
design/statistics, measurement) is desirable.
Rank and Salary: Assistant Professor. Tenure Track. Salary is
commensurate with experience.
