Dear Biomch-L list members,
the BioMechanics-Laboratory of the Charité - Universitary Medicine Berlin,
Campus Benjamin Franklin has
successfully completed a feasibility study for an instrumented knee
endoprosthesis.
This feasibility study for the development of an instrumented knee
endoprosthesis was undertaken in collaboration
with Centerpulse Orthopedics Ltd., a Zimmer Company (Winterthur,
Switzerland).
A standard tibial baseplate was modified to accommodate for the electronic
unit developed
by the Biomechanics-Lab of the Charité, Campus Benjamin Franklin, Berlin.
An extensive Finite-Element-Analysis showed that the accuracy and safety of
the prosthesis is guaranteed.
Further information on the Load Measurement with instrumented Knee Joint
Prostheses
is available on http://www.medizin.fu-berlin.de/biomechanik/.
Regards,
Bernd
