Kayser Italia Srl
Livorno, Italy
The company is active in design and development of systems and
subsystems for Life Science Space Research. In particular, a Hand
Grip and Pinch Force Dynamometer (HGD/PFD) for the isometric measure
of hand and finger forces of astronauts during space activities, has
been produced under ESA contract for the NASA Human Research
Facility. An instrument on Hand Posture Analysis (HPA) has been
designed and manufactured for the Italian Space Agency (ASI), which
will include an instrumented Glove with 15 degrees of freedom, for
Upper Limb Postural Analysis. The payload will fly on the
International Space Station and used for 3 months starting from
September 2003. Three protocols will be tested on grasping, launch
of a virtual ball, and isometric force.
