    POST-DOCTORAL POSITION

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position within the University
of Newcastle, UK, funded by The Wellcome Trust for five years in the first
instance. The planned projects will use techniques for multiple,
identified, single unit recording in awake behaving animals. The projects
will focus on the functional role of synchronised cortical and sub-cortical
activity in the control of movement, and in the generation and reduction of
physiological tremor. Familiarity with extracellular recording techniques,
behavioural training, and data analysis using the MATLAB environment would
be advantageous, as would an interest in using computational modelling to
    interpret experimental data.

    PhD OPPORTUNITIES

One PhD student will work on the above projects in awake behaving animals.
A further student will work on projects which seek to address the same
problems via non-invasive electrophysiological experiments in normal human
    volunteer subjects.
