  • habituation to treadmill walking

    Dear all,

I am currently working on the locomotion of dogs, trotting on a treadmill.
I would like to build a database of kinetics parameters for these dogs.
My questions is about the habituation.

Recording a dog each day during a week or one time a week during a month is
    obviously different.
How many sessions are necessary to get reliable data?
How long is this habituation memorised?
I am talking precisely of habituation, not accomodation nor training.
I call accomodation, the time to wait before recording for a single session.
I call training, physical training, and I think its influence will be negligeable.

I have found lots of articles about accomodation, in men, horses and dogs. Some
authors recommend to wait 1 minute, others 5 minutes, others more.
But I am not able to find any reference about the number and the frequency of
sessions necessary to get the habituation.
Would I need 1 session each week during 4 weeks? Or 1 session each day during a
    week?
And what happen after? How often should the dog perform on the treadmill to
remember his habituation? Will the dog still show same results after 1 month
    without treadmill exercice?

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
