The Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society (GCMAS) is pleased to
announce the availability of Student Conference Awards to support
student participation in the 2004 GCMAS 9th Annual Meeting, to be
held April 21-24 in Lexington, KY. These awards are being funded
through a grant from The Whitaker Foundation, which provides support
of conferences that enhance the field of biomedical engineering. Each
award will be used to cover the cost of the student's conference
registration fees, tutorial fees, and shared hotel room.
Information about the 2004 GCMAS Annual Meeting is available on the
WWW at http://www.amrinc.net/gcma/index.cfm. The number of awards
available is yet to be determined; however, we expect to offer 10-12
awards.
These awards are available to full-time and part-time students in
biomedical engineering and other disciplines relevant to movement
analysis. Membership in the GCMAS is not a requirement for an award.
Award recipients will be selected on a competitive basis using
selection criteria that include: motivation to attend the meeting
(communicated through a statement on the award application); area of
study (preference will be given to engineering students); membership
in the GCMAS (preference will be given to student members);
involvement in a movement analysis laboratory; level of participation
in the conference (presenting or co-authoring a paper); and academic
performance.
The application form and detailed instructions for applying can be
downloaded from the meeting WWW page at
http://www.amrinc.net/gcma/index.cfm. Applications should be
submitted as early as possible, and not later than February 28, 2004.
Students will be notified of their award status by March 8. The
early registration deadline for the GCMAS Meeting will be extended to
(from February 28 to March 12) for all students who submit a
conference award application.
Please direct any questions about the award to me at asarnold@stanford.edu.
On behalf of the GCMAS Education Committee, I encourage all students
to apply for this award, and I look forward to seeing you at the
GCMAS Annual Meeting.
Best regards,
Allison Arnold
Selection Committee Chairperson
