Post-Doctoral Position - Motor Control and Rehabilitation
The University of Michigan
Description:
A two year post-doctoral position is available immediately in the Motor
Control Laboratory, Division of Kinesiology and the Department of Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Michigan. The focus of
the Motor Control Lab is on upper limb sensorimotor coordination across the
lifespan and in movement disorders. Current research projects include
bimanual coordination in asymmetric upper limb disorders such as
hemiparetic cerebral palsy, age-related changes in upper limb and hand
proprioceptive acuity, and changes in limb-posture coordination.
Opportunities exist for participation in ongoing studies, the development
of an independent line of research, as well as collaboration with other
motor control research faculty. The candidate will be expected to design
and conduct experiments, analyze data, prepare manuscripts for publication,
and participate at national level conferences. This position is funded by
an NIH T32 rehabilitation training grant.
Qualifications:
Interested candidates must possess a PhD or MD-PhD degree in motor
control/development, biomechanics, neurorehabilitation, or a
closely-related field. Experience with motion analysis systems is highly
desirable but not essential. Candidates must be motivated and willing to
combine theoretical and clinical approaches in the study of motor deficits
and rehabilitation. Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written
communication skills, and work well in a team setting. This position is
open to U.S. citizens only.
Applicants should submit a curriculum vita and the names and addresses of
three references to Susan H. Brown, Ph.D., Director, Motor Control
