  • Announcement: Special Meeting at GCMAS Lexington

    Dear Colleagues attending GCMAS,

In a few weeks, it will be my distinct pleasure to assume the role of
President of the Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society. As I look at
the list of my predecessors, I am both humbled by their achievements, and
encouraged by their company. I look forward to serving you and the needs of
    GCMAS in the coming year.

A strength of GCMAS is the diversity of its clinical and technical members.
This is reflected in the nominations for President, which each year,
alternate between candidates in these two emphasis areas. As you know, I
bring technical skills to my "new job," so my attention is naturally drawn
to technical issues that affect our clinical work. With that in mind, I am
exploring the possibility of creating a "Technical Interest Group," that
would meet at the 2005 Annual Meeting in Portland. My goal is to provide a
forum in which technical issues can be discussed in more depth than is
typically possible in podium or poster presentations. However, the format
that such a meeting would take needs to be decided upon by interested GCMAS
members, both technical and clinical. To that end, Dr. Steven Stanhope has
graciously agreed to organize a planning meeting for the Technical Interest
Group at this year's Annual Meeting in Lexington KY, USA.

    Who?
All interested GCMAS members and conference participants.

    What?
Planning Meeting for a new Technical Interest Group (TIG).
(Finger sandwiches and soft drinks will be provided.)

    Where?
Thoroughbred Meeting Room 7 of the Lexington Convention Center.

    When?
    Noon - 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 22, 2004
(Completed in time for a trip to the race track.)

    Why?
To decide upon the format for a TIG meeting to be held at the 2005 GCMAS
    Annual Meeting in Portland.

There is currently space for 40 participants, but this can be changed if
needed. If you would like to attend, please send an e-mail to Dr. Steven
Stanhope to help his staff better prepare for this event.

    Best regards,
    Frank
