  • Lombard's Paradox (thigh muscles)

    Hi, Dear All,

I am looking after a definition and explanation about the Lombard's paradox.

In 1907, Lombard described his paradox with frog's muscles. He said that
biarticular muscles such as hamstrings and rectus femoris have an activity
on both joints (hip and knee).
Because of different lever arms (evaluated by Elftman in the 50's),
hamstrings are essentially efficient for the hip and rectus femoris for the
    knee.
    I am therefore looking after
    1) the original paper written by Lombard and also (more important) a recent
definition and explanation about this phenomenon.
    Thanks to everybody in advance.
