  • University of Minnesota Program in Physical Therapy FacultyOpening-Biomechanics

    The Program in Physical Therapy at the University of Minnesota is inviting
    applications for a yearly renewable faculty position at the rank of
    Assistant Professor. Candidates with exceptional credentials will be
    considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full
    Professor.

    This position is newly created to expand current faculty in support of a
    newly developed professional doctorate, the Doctor of Physical Therapy
    (DPT) degree program and requires a PhD in Physical Therapy or a related
    field. Responsibilities include teaching biomechanics and other areas of
    content expertise, performing faculty research, supervising graduate
    student research and pursuing extramural funding. Research experience and
    productivity is expected as well as integral involvement in the PhD Program
    in Rehabilitation Sciences. Preference will be given to an applicant with a
    clinical degree in physical therapy and past orthopaedic clinical
    experience, but applicants without a clinical degree will be considered.

    Candidates should demonstrate strong evidence or promise as successful
    scientists and teachers and have enthusiasm for participating in faculty
    governance and professional service.

    The Program in Physical Therapy is an academic unit with a 60-year history
    within the School of Medicine, and upholds a strong national
    reputation. The University of Minnesota is a major public research
    institution with substantial opportunities for collaborative work with
    well-established senior faculty in physical therapy and other medical and
    biomedical disciplines. Currently, Physical Therapy faculty are active in
    federally funded research and state-of-the-art teaching in areas of muscle
    adaptations with aging and immobilization, neuroplasticity and fMRI,
    balance and fall prevention, and biomechanical mechanisms of injury and
    methods of rehabilitation for musculoskeletal dysfunction.

    Anticipated start date: August of 2004. Applications will be reviewed upon
    receipt. Search will remain open until the position is
