Job Title: Research Engineer
Description of Position:
The Research Engineer will involve the general management of the
laboratories of the Musculoskeletal Research Center (MSRC). This will
include design and implementation of testing apparatus and
experiments. The applicant will also assist in the development and
testing of a high-payload robotic testing system (KUKA KR 210
manipulator) that will be used to evaluate diarthrodial joint and
ligament function, especially the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).
This work will be performed under the direction of faculty.
Additionally, the applicant will be responsible for managing all
aspects of experimental projects, from data collection to some
manuscript writing. The Research Engineering position also involves
maintenance of laboratory equipment, plus ordering and keeping record
of cadaveric specimens.
Qualifications: B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Bioengineering
Skills: Leadership and management experience, work well individually
and as a member of a team, machining capabilities,
experience/interest with robotics desirable but not required
Location: The MSRC was established in 1990 for the purpose of
developing integrated programs on orthopaedic education and research.
The MSRC is a flourishing enterprise where engineers, biologists and
clinicians get together with the help of a dedicated staff, to guide
and teach qualified students and research fellows. The MSRC is
located on the 16th floor of the Biomedical Science Tower.
Start Date: As soon as possible
Starting Salary: Commensurate with experience
