A post-doctoral research position in Biomechanics is available in the
Lab. Biomeccanica, Istituti Ortopedici Rizzoli, Bologna , Italy. Our
laboratory consists of an interdisciplinary group of graduate students,
post-doctoral fellows, clinicians, and scientists in engineering,
computer science, mathematics and bioengineering. Further information

The research project aims at implementing a knee model for surgical
planning. Duties include management of all aspects of the model
development, including preliminary proposals and feasibility study,
experimental test programs, design and participation in experimental
tests and validation with the other members of the research group.
Applicants are advised that the position involves the use of cadaveric
materials or experimental work in the operating room.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in biomechanical or mechanical
engineering or a related field in engineering. In addition, the ideal
candidate would have a strong background in modelling and joint
biomechanics. Expertise in computer languages (e.g., C++, MATLAB, etc)
is necessary. Previous experience in kinematic analysis and dynamical
systems modelling is preferred.
The position is available after October 2004, and applications will be

proposed for one year and can be renewed for up to 3 years. Salary will
be commensurate with experience .
