Biomechanics Position Announcement
This is a repost. The search stalled during the spring, but is now up and running again. We invite additional applicants.
The Kinesiology faculty at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin is searching for a colleague with expertise in the area of Biomechanics/Kinesiology. While biomechanics is the primary area of expertise desired, the successful candidate is expected to have additional areas of expertise within the discipline and interest in online course development. The Biomechanics/Kinesiology position would begin in fall 2004.
The original ad as listed in The Chronicle is for an appointment at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. Candidates for the rank of assistant professor must have a terminal degree in the field (ABDs near completion will be considered), evidence of quality teaching, and evidence they will be productive in research/scholarship. To be considered for the rank of associate professor a candidate must have a terminal degree in the field, evidence of quality teaching, and a significant record of accomplishment in externally funded research or scholarship.
The Kinesiology program at the University includes an undergraduate B.S. degree program with emphases in pedagogy/coaching, exercise sciences, athletic training, and sport studies. The master's degree program is a M.S. in Kinesiology degree with emphases in exercise sciences, sport and exercise psychology, and teaching/coaching/administration. The graduate program is part of a highly successful collaborative online program with faculty at other University of Texas System universities (UT El Paso, UT Arlington, UT San Antonio, UT Pan American, and UT Tyler). The biomechanics laboratory includes a PEAK motion analysis system with six camera synchronization, eight channel EMG, and two force plates.
