  • prosthesis foot stiffness

    Dear all readers

I'm currently a biomechanics consultant of an above-knee amputee that will participate to the next paraolimpycs games in Athens. He uses a Cheetah prosthesis foot (customed by Ossur). I asked to Ossur the resonance frequency or natural frequency of oscillation of the foot to compare with the useage frequency, that is the rate at which the prosthesis is deformed and released during sprinting, but they told me that they didn't have this data. I need this data for determine if the resonance of frequency of the foot match with the useage frequency, so I can establish if the current foot is the best choice or it is better to use a more stiff or compliant foot
I found the following articles in literature but used too old feet:

    - Lehmann JF, Price R, Boswell-Bessette S, Dralle A, Questad K, deLateur BJ.
Comprehensive analysis of energy storing prosthetic feet: Flex Foot and Seattle
    Foot Versus Standard SACH foot.
Arch Phys Med Rehabil. 1993 Nov;74(11):1225-31.

    - Lehmann JF, Price R, Boswell-Bessette S, Dralle A, Questad K.
Comprehensive analysis of dynamic elastic response feet: Seattle Ankle/Lite
    Foot versus SACH foot.
Arch Phys Med Rehabil. 1993 Aug;74(8):853-61

Could anyone help me? Any advice and/or suggestion will be very appreciated

    Thank you very much
