Job Description:
The Biomechanics Laboratory at the Hospital for Special Surgery has an immediate opening for a Research Engineer. The position involves design and implementation of biomechanical experiments in collaboration with scientists, biomechanical engineers, and orthopaedic surgeons in the fields of arthroplasty, trauma, joint kinematics, and bone & soft tissue mechanics. Experience on uniaxial and biaxial load frames as well as hip and knee simulators is desired. The position requires the ability to: work both independently and as a member of a team; manage all aspects of experimental projects, from data collection to manuscript writing; maintain lab equipment and dissection facilities; manage experimental equipment, computers, and cadaver tissue; and perform data and basic statistical analyses.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent w/ Biomedical, Biomechanical or related coursework.
- Experience with mechanical testing desired but not required.
Salary is compensatory with experience.
