The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences at the
University of Kansas Medical Center invites applications for a tenure
track faculty member at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to
serve as Director of the PhD Program in Rehabilitation Sciences.
Applicants for the position should have well-documented interests in
applied research of orthopedic rehabilitation. Applicants with research
interests in lower extremity biomechanics, spinal manipulation, or gait
analysis are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have an earned PhD
and a record of peer-reviewed publications. Teaching responsibilities
will be assigned, based on the successful applicant's area of
expertise.
The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences at the
University of Kansas Medical Center is a well-established program
currently offering the entry-level DPT degree, the PhD degree and a
joint DPT/PhD program. The program is 60 years old and is ranked 10th
in the national among PT programs at public institutions by US News and
World Report. The faculty have diverse research expertise in the areas
of stroke and Parkinson's Disease rehabilitation, diabetes, back pain,
peripheral joint injuries, and bioengineering. Generous laboratory
space and equipment are available. Kansas City has a strong bioscience
emphasis with several established and start-up biotech companies
coordinated through the Kansas City Life Sciences Institute. Interested
