A post-doctoral position is available in the Equine biomechanics
research group at the National Veterinary School of Alfort (Paris
area, France), from September 1st, 2004.
This is a 6 months project the objective of which is to quantify the
stresses applied to the equine foot during ground contact and
loading, at high speed. This project is part of a research program the
general
purpose of which is to objectively assess the effects of
grounds and shoes on locomotion comfort in the equine athlete.
The techniques and equipments available in the research group include
a ground reaction force measuring horse-shoe (using 3D force
sensors), a force plate, two 3D kinematic analysis systems, a high
speed camera, accelerometers, a high speed treadmill, a testing
machine.
The candidate should have a PhD and an experimental background in
biomechanics or biomedical engineering. Highly desirable skills
include experience working with force platforms and 3D kinematics,
analog data acquisition and writing computer programs.
The person appointed will be expected to design and conduct
experiments, and analyze data. Prior experience in working on the
equine locomotor system will be an advantage.
Interested candidates should send their CV (including a list of their
publications), a brief cover letter describing their research
interests, and contact information for 2 references to :
