    Description:

    We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a strong
    practical background in mechanical design and biomechanics/biomechanical
    engineering to work as a research scientist in the Biomechatronics
    Group at the MIT Media Laboratory.

    The research program will focus on the advancement of the next
    generation of external leg prostheses and orthoses.

    Responsibilities:

    Analysis, design and testing of prosthetic and orthotic systems and
    subsystems. You will be working with a larger team of engineers,
    scientists and students to develop and test these next generation devices.

    Qualifications:

    BSc or MSc in mechanical engineering or a related field is required for
    the position. Applicants must have at least five years experience in
    design project experience. Desired skills include electric motors,
    hydraulics, robotics, prosthetics, composites, biomimetic design, and
    system integration.

    Starting salary is commensurate with level of education and experience.
    A full benefits package is provided. The position is available
    immediately, although the starting date is negotiable to some extent.
