Memorial University of Newfoundland
Memorial University of Newfoundland invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in a faculty or school appropriate to the successful candidate's background. The successful applicant will hold a Research Chair in Workplace Health and Safety that is funded for a period of four years through a grant provided to Memorial's SafetyNet research program (www.safetynet.mun.ca) by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research with matching funding by INCO. The successful applicant will be subject to the provisions of the Collective Agreement governing extension of the tenure-track appointment or granting of tenure depending on the rank at appointment.
The successful applicant will have a doctorate or equivalent academic qualifications in any of a wide range of disciplines and an established record of high-quality research and publication in workplace health and safety. While holding the Chair, the successful applicant will have limited teaching responsibilities and will be expected to acquire external research funding, spearhead interdisciplinary research initiatives, and supervise graduate students.
As a contributor to the SafetyNet research program, the successful applicant will be expected to design, supervise and help carry out interdisciplinary, applied research on workplace health and safety in industries relevant to the Atlantic Provinces with a particular focus on rural and remote workplaces and small businesses. He/she will work with other members of Memorial's SafetyNet research team, and its collaborators elsewhere in Atlantic Canada and in Quebec, to develop a regional network with a broadly based, interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange capacity in the field of workplace health and safety. A demonstrated commitment to collaborating with community groups and to communicating the results of scholarly research to the public would also be an asset.

c.. a letter outlining research interests and describing how the candidate will contribute to ongoing and new research
