    Title: Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Rehabilitation Engineering
    Location: Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA
    Date: August 1, 2004

    Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Wheeled Mobility

    A 24 month post-doctoral position is available in the Center for Assistive
    Technology and Environmental Access at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. The
    successful candidate will participate in research focusing on wheelchair
    users, function and secondary disabilities. Potential projects include
    instrumentation used to monitor community mobility by wheelchair users, the
    study of tissue ischemia that leads to pressure ulcers, design and
    development of assistive technologies, and the study of posture and
    function of wheelchair users.

    Opportunities exist to interact in collaborative research with engineering
    and applied physiology faculty who specialize in motor control,
    biomechanics, tissue imaging, and motion analysis.

    Applicants should have a recent doctoral degree in biomedical engineering,
    biomechanics, electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related
    discipline. A record of research in one or more of the following is
    preferred: motion analysis with EMG, remote data collection and data
    logging, biomechanical measurements and modeling, experimental design,
    and/or engineering design. Experience in human subject research related to
    disability is desired as well. This position will also involve grant
    writing and submitting manuscripts for publication.

    Salary is negotiable, and commensurate with experience.
