  • Physical Therapy Fellowship in Clinical Movement Analysis

The Physical Disabilities Branch (PDB) Human Movement Disorders Section at
the National Institutes of Health (NIH, Department of Health and Human
Services (DHHS) in Bethesda, Maryland, invites applications from highly
motivated physical therapists for a training opportunity in clinical
movement analysis within the unique clinical research environment of the
    NIH.

The NIH Clinical Center is the hospital to which patients and healthy
volunteers participating in NIH intramural clinical research trials are
admitted. Motion capture studies are conducted by staff of the Human
Movement Disorders Section in support of both patient care activities and
clinical research initiatives. These studies examine the relationship
between physical impairments and functional limitations and its modification
through rehabilitation treatment for pediatric and adult patients with a
    variety of neuromusculoskeletal diagnoses.

The Human Movement Disorders Section Physical Therapist Fellow will receive
extensive training in clinical movement analysis techniques and applications
under the mentorship of PDB staff. The Fellow also will be responsible for
performing clinical evaluations of patient and volunteer subjects
participating in clinical motion studies or research protocols. Due to the
breadth of the training experience in the clinical and research applications
of motion analysis in a rehabilitation context, the fellowship will
initially be for a 2 year appointment with a possibility for a 1 year
    extension.

Position requirements include an entry level degree in Physical Therapy from
an accredited program and a valid physical therapy license in the state of
Maryland. Prior clinical experience with neurological or pediatric patient
    populations is preferred.

The fellowship is open only to Citizens or Permanent Residents of the United
States and will remain open until filled.
