Assistant Professor, Human motor control and biomechanics

The Department of Kinesiology at the University of Maryland-College Park (www.hhp.umd.edu/KNES/) is seeking a faculty member with expertise in human motor control and biomechanics. This position offers an excellent opportunity to join an innovative research group in cognitive motor neuroscience and a dynamic faculty of Kinesiology which is among the best departments in the field. This is interdisciplinary environment with established links to campus programs in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science, engineering, neuro-imaging, and computational modeling and excellent facilities and equipment including a new state-of-the-art virtual reality system.

Qualifications: Doctorate in related domain of inquiry, and evidence of a sustainable and focused research program.

Responsibilities: Develop and maintain a nationally recognized program of original research, including collaborative activities with current faculty. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of expertise that complement existing curricular offerings. Develop and maintain an externally funded research program.

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

Location: College Park is ideally situated between metropolitan Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. This area offers unique opportunities for collaborative activities with federal laboratories and agencies as well as a number of other research universities.

Appointment: 9 month tenure-track appointment could begin as early as January 8, 2005
