Motion Analysis Lab (MAL)
Clinical Scientist - Grade B -37½ hours per week
Applications are invited for a new post of Clinical Scientist in The Motion
Analysis Lab (MAL) at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital,Stanmore,
London, UK.
The MAL has been open as a research facility since 1997. With additional
financial input, initially from the National Lottery and subsequently from
the Hospital, the clinical service was introduced in 2003. This now forms
the main part of the workload and is expanding. Referrals are taken both
from within the hospital and from external consultants and include the
following:-
Gait analysis of patients with cerebral palsy and spinal injuries
Gait analysis in complex spinal surgical cases
Gait analysis in patients with musculo-skeletal disorders of the lower limb
Development of motion analysis in sports medicine
Development of motion analysis in shoulder disorders
The successful candidate will coordinate and manage all MAL functions,
whilst ensuring all equipment is used appropriately and
maintained/serviced. The successful candidate will also develop the service
and ensure referrals are increased. We offer further opportunities for both
research and teaching.
