ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, BIOMECHANICS
DEPARTMENT OF EXERCISE AND NUTRITIONAL SCIENCES
POSITION: Assistant Professor, tenure-track position in Exercise and
Nutritional Sciences with teaching responsibilities in biomechanics,
beginning August 2005.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biomechanics
with additional responsibilities within the CAAHEP accredited
Kinesiotherapy Educational program. Professional growth through research,
grant activity, and publication expected. Provide service to department and
university. Expected to mentor graduate students and serve on thesis
committees.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. required in biomechanics, kinesiology or related
field. Credential as a Registered Kinesiotherapist (RKT), or similar
rehabilitation/allied health credential/certificate, is
preferred. Candidates must have proficiency in a variety of biomechanical
instruments including 2-D & 3-D kinematic analysis, force measure and
electromyography. Candidates must also have experience in supervision of
clinical experiences for students enrolled in didactic educational programs.
SALARY & RANK: Salary commensurate with credentials and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Department of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences
has over 35 faculty positions and is part of the College of Professional
Studies and Fine Arts. Approximately 950 kinesiology and 140 foods and
nutrition majors plus 100 graduate students are currently enrolled. The
Department offers Bachelor's degrees in Kinesiology and Foods and Nutrition
and Master's degrees in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, and Nutritional
Sciences. San Diego State has an enrollment of over 30,000 students.
